It's a contest started in an effort to Keep Laredo Green. Now, over 100 scouts have received Merit Badges for their help. Girl Scout troop number 9126 collected a whopping 947 old phone books for recycling--most of which may gone in the trash. This year's yellow pages recycling contest managed to bring in over 32 hundred old phone books, saving an estimated 66 trees, 27 thousand gallons of water, over 15 thousand watts of electricity and 12 cubic yards of landfill space. The group also recieved a pizza party for their efforts.
