Congratulations to Ishani Rewatkar on becoming the latest recipient of the WLTZ NBC 38, CW GA-BAMA, Diverse Power Community Green Award. She’s been collecting candy wrappers and Capri Sun pouches as part of the TerraCycle program which has diverted billions of pounds of waste worldwide. Not only has Ishani raised money for her school through her efforts, she also earned the Girl Scout’s Silver Award, the  second highest and she’s working hard on earning the Gold.

Congratulations to the Flex Powerstation at Harmony Church on Fort Benning on being the latest recipient of the WLTZ NBC 38/CW GA-BAMA/Diverse Power Community Green Award. The station sits on an old landfill and catches methane gas leaking from the garbage below and converts it into clean energy that powers 250 homes.

Congratulations to Northside High School on being the latest recipient of the WLTZ NBC 38/CW GA-BAMA Community Green Award. They’re “Keep Scenic Scenic” campaign is part of an effort to encourage high school students to preserve the natural resources that make Columbus beautiful.

Congratulations to the Columbus Water Works on being the latest recipient of the WLTZ NBC 38/CW Ga-Bama Community Green Award. Not only do they supply water to over two hundred and thirty thousand Columbus region residents, but they also work hard to educate the public on how to conserve that water.

Congratulations to the Columbus Botanical Garden on being the latest recipient of the WLTZ NBC 38/CW GA-BAMA Community Green Award. Founded in 1999, this 22 acre facility is on a mission to provide visitors with a unique chance to learn environmental awareness, horticulture and preservation of our natural resources.

Since August, the 4th grade class at New Mountain Hill Elementary School in Harris Co. has recycled 607 pounds of paper, 592 pounds of magazines, and 121 pounds of newspapers, yet it's more than awards and recognition that makes this project so successful. Last month students unveiled a brand new community wide recycling center.
