The recipient of the Community Green Award for April is Publix. Publix reaches beyond their doors to reach people in their communities.

Demonstrating its continued support for conservation, members of the firearms industry, through the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the industry's trade association, have donated $150,000 to supplement congressional funding of the North American Wetland Conservation Act (NAWCA), a grant program providing federal cost-share funding to support the North American Waterfowl Management Plan.

With an expiration date of Sept. 30 looming for the North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA), Ducks Unlimited is seeking additional House of Representatives co-sponsors to back H.R. 1960, a bill to reauthorize NAWCA through 2017.

 Ducks Unlimited received President Obama's prestigious Coastal America Partnership Award on Dec. 10 for its pivotal role in the highly successful Nisqually Estuary Restoration Project. 

Waterfowl numbers continued to increase in the Sacramento Valley through early December with the arrival of additional migrants, particularly wigeon, shovelers, and white geese.
